Rendering a PDF page to JPG turns a document into an ordinary image that any app, chat client or social platform can display. Each page is drawn by pdf.js onto a canvas at the resolution you choose and encoded as JPEG.

Resolution is the decision that matters. 72 DPI is a thumbnail, 150 DPI reads comfortably on screen, 300 DPI is print quality and produces files several times larger.

JPEG is lossy and does not love sharp black-on-white text: at low quality settings you will see halos around letters. For text-heavy pages, PDF to PNG is the better export.
